Transliteration:
Bir kön Padşah bir şa'r-din ağri-di. Jallad-ni biyur-di, mən-ning aldi-m-də ül-tür. Jallad qiliç alip- kel-ga-li bar-diş Ul sha'r hazir adəm-lar-ğa de-di, Qiliç kel-gunça məni muşt-la-nglar wu ur-unglar kim Padşah-ning kungl-i xuş bol-sun. Bu söz-din Padşah xuş bol-up kül-di wu sha'r-ning gunah-i-ni ut-ti.
Translation:
One day the King was angry with a poet, and he ordered the executioner, 'Kill him in my presence.' The executioner, having taken the sword, went to bring the poet. The poet arrived and said to people, 'Before the sword comes, you can belabour me and beat me so that the King's heart may be pleased. The King was pleased with this speech and he smiled and forgave the poet's offence.
