One of my favourite Uyghur songs. I practically grew up with it... the adapted Chinese version though. This is the first time I got the original lyrics and with the help of a dictionary, understood its meaning. I'll attempt to translate it now.
Hard is the ground of Dawanching
And sweet are its watermelons
I fell in love with a girl in Dawanching
Whose name is Qambarxan
My Qambarxan, my Qambarxan
Shall we take a hand-fan?
Below your hand-fan
Shall we shade ourselves?
For Dawanching I planted watermelons
The stems are good and straight
When the watermelons become ripe
You can choose for yourself from all kinds
My love, for you I suffered
For a thousand and six days
If I am to suffer more
It is for your dear black eyes!
