I have seen an obvious difference between a sage and a fool.
To start with, it is impossible that one should be interested in nothing during his existence in the world. The process of pursuing what one is interested in will be his most precious memory.
The sage has good interests, hobbies and pursuits. He always listens to the teachings of their elders, and contemplates them. He shall not lament the passing of time.
The fool pursues ephemeral and valueless things and sacrifices the most worthy and precious time of his life for nothing. In the end, his remorse will not win anything back.
